Allentown based criminal defense lawyer Michael Donohue of DONOHUE LAW was admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania in 2005 and began his legal career as an Assistant Public Defender with the Delaware County Public Defender’s Office in Media, PA. While serving as an Assistant Public Defender, Attorney Donohue represented men and women charged with felony and misdemeanor crimes, as well as juveniles charged in Juvenile Court.
After proving himself as a successful criminal defense attorney, Attorney Donohue accepted a position as an assistant prosecutor for the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office in order to further develop his trial advocacy skills. As an Assistant District Attorney, Mr. Donohue was assigned to the adult trial division and personally prosecuted more than 1,800 criminal cases. In that capacity, Attorney Donohue tried to verdict nearly all of the most serious criminal offenses, including Murder, Aggravated Assault, Robbery, Burglary, Firearms Offenses, Felony Drug cases, and DUI and related crimes.
In 2011, Attorney Donohue entered the private sector, consulting with some of the top defense firms in the Philadelphia Metropolitan area. In 2014, Attorney Donohue permanently relocated to the Lehigh Valley and established his own criminal defense practice.
Many of Attorney Donohue’s cases have been considered high profile cases due to the nature of the crimes and the complex legal characteristics inherent to them. Attorney Donohue successfully tried to verdict a case of first impression in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and has had interview requests from various national media outlets, including ESPN and USA Today.
Attorney Donohue earned his Juris Doctorate degree in 2004 from what is now the Western Michigan University's Cooley Law School. Attorney Donohue participated in the accelerated program, completing his coursework a full year early.
Attorney Donohue completed his undergraduate studies at Villanova University in 2002, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy.
Attorney Donohue has been an active member in the volunteer fire service for more than twenty years. He is an active member of the Upper Saucon Fire Department and the Upper Darby Fire Department. He is a business member in the Haverford Township Bureau of Fire.
